Aaron's tattoos are more awesome than yours

Aaron emailed me today to share these photos of his new incredibly awesome tattoos (and is kind enough to let me share them with you!):

Upclose

These were drawn by tattoo artist Dave Wallin at Tattoo Culture in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Aaron says, "I was attempting the old-school woodcut look. The daikon radish has just a hint of asian influence....Both Alton Brown (who has an apis mellifera, or honeybee, on his shoulder) and Tony Bourdain really dug my new ink."

Aaron, A Full Belly salutes you and your passion for food! Thanks for representin'.

Aaron's tattoos are more awesome than yours. I don't care what your tattoos are like, his will beat yours down into the ground and not even break a sweat; woodcut-style looks so lovely on skin. (Ranjit, you need to get... [Read More]

OK. When I saw the post, I was going to reply "Nuh-uh" because I have a tattoo that is the chinese symbol for the word tattoo. But, I give. The pig is far more awesomer than mine.

I met this chef, John Stewart, last year. I photographed his arm after he let me taste his housemade salume.

....woah! awesome

@ Tana

Wow! Just when I think I'm starting a trend... His looks pretty cool too. Quite a bit cuter than mine.

I first took this idea into my head in Cremona, Lombardia when butchering a pig, two novembers ago. At a small, fog-hidden agriturismo, we raised organic pigs, slaughtered them on site, butchered them, and made salami cremonese and cotechini.

Perhaps I'll send alaina some pictures in the future.

As a tattoo lover and major foodie, I gotta say that these are pretty cool. I especially like the pig one. I have 4 tats but none of them are food-related (yet).

Ink is rad!

Fantastic tattoos!

Makes me wish I'd put mine in a more (ehem) public place suitable for photography. Not food-related though. Just a happy Winnie-the-Pooh.

Aaron, you're never going to believe me, but for my first tattoo I was going to get an onion on my right forearm, presumably at the exact studio you went to (I have friends who say it's quality, quality). Now I see how dope your new ones look and I am both pissed off that I forced myself to wait until december to think about it and glad because now I know to try it in a woodcut style. Bravo!

I'm a bit late to this party, but did you see these? Chef tattoos in the NYT

You stole my idea! No, not really, as this post was written before mine. It is amazing how great minds think alike, and I love this tattoo.

Anyway, I tried to get the tattoo, but the artist discouraged it since he said the writing was too fine. Perhaps these nubers are the way to go...

Hey there, it has been a while, but I see that people are still reading this thread. Anyway, I finally went through with the tattoo, though slightly modified... Let me know what you think!
